Nathan our son turned 12 on the 14th. We got him a Costco cake and made sure he enjoyed it. I was the mean one to push is face into the cake. Mihoko was joking when she initiated the idea but she never dreamed I'd actually do it. Nathan thought it was cool and he enjoyed the attention. 
Our son is special as he witnessed his older brother dying and then saw Rachel go through the same experience. It has impacted his life and he is very sensitive because of it. He has always had a heart to help those who are either on the outside or less fortunate. He makes friends easily and We are so proud how he has left his Orange county friends for the mission field. He has made new ones and is acquiring the Japanese language well. He is an artist who loves to draw. We are all impressed at his ability. He goes in phases of specific characters he likes to draw. He did the Nintendo "Mario" Characters and then moved on to Bug Bunny and family (esp. Dad). Now his latest craze is the Bill Watson "Calvin and Hobbs" Series. He loves Calvin's mature interactions with his parents. Nathan has even begun to replicate some of the discussions with us. He is still our boy and he is growing into a wonderful Man of God. I am excited to see what God is going to do with his life. Happy Birthday Son we love you very much.
