Fig is an acrostic for Faith in God from Mark 11:22. We as missionaries living in Japan enjoy our FIG in Japanese or In Nihon Go (ING). Here we are figing away in a beautiful country Japan. This started out as a place for family to get updates and pictures but now this goes all over the world. Praise God. May you be blessed as you read my posts. Some funny, some sad, & some really stupid and embarrassing for my family.

The Abiding life
This week in our "Iruma Needs Jesus Bible Study" we are going through the Bible and we come to 1 John 3. John speaks about the "Abiding" life in Jesus. It has been so much on my mind. Roy Hession old time preacher has a series of sermons on life in the vine. "The Christian life is one of branch to vine." Our life is not working in the vine or vineyard. It's not walking in the vine, not even resting in the vine.
The Abiding life is a life of branch to vine in that all nutrition is derived from the process of abiding.
It is not a daily dose of secular inoculation.
It is not a vitamin C to stave the evil.
It is not a shot of energy to get one through another day.
The abiding life is one of a constant IV drip of 1000's of CC of God's life running through you overflowing you splashing out onto the populace around and in due season fruit is produced.
So much of Christiandom is a weak atrophied looking plant that does not properly represent the true meaning of the Abiding life. I must admit my guilt as to being one who often stops the flow of love because of a time crunch. I have quenched grace because of a questions that are meant to be excuses.
Is what your offering of your own strength or formula looking a little shriveled or dried up? Are you burning out drying up? Too much time in the Sunlight and not enough in the vine causes you to tire and to be no longer excited about the ministry. However, the solution is simple if we would just correct the connection of Vine to Branch. You are no longer worried about soil conditions, you are not worried about numbers of fruit, you are not burdened with the taste, your only concern is 100% constant abiding that will naturally yield it's fruit in due season. Let's get back to abiding and just simply be in the word of God not with the purpose of mastering its levels of skill for what it can produce for the kingdom. That is not our call. We need to be in the word allowing it's nutrition to nourish us and sustain us and produce in us that divine fruit that can only come in due season from dwelling in "De Vine."
